Long before Sagewood Childcare existed, there were two young women who shared a love for children and a belief that early childhood should be something special.

We're Melissa and Janine, two longtime friends whose story began nearly twenty years ago, when a mutual friend insisted we needed to meet. She was convinced we'd become best friends.

And she was right.

At the time, we were both working as nannies, caring for children and becoming part of the families who welcomed us into their homes. Janine had opened her first early childhood learning and play space, and Melissa joined her as a preschool teacher.

Our friendship grew alongside our careers, and eventually our own families. Our oldest children were born just two weeks apart!

Over the years, life took us in different directions, including a move to Kentucky and eventually a return home to New Hampshire. But our friendship and our shared passion for early childhood never changed.

As mothers ourselves, we began thinking more deeply about the kind of childcare we wanted for our own children.

We knew firsthand how meaningful the relationship between a nanny, a child, and their family could be. The individualized attention, the familiar routines, the comfort of being truly known and understood.

We also knew how wonderful it was for children to experience friendships, exploration, and learning alongside their peers.

We began dreaming of a place that could bring those two worlds together.

A childcare program where children could experience the warmth and individualized attention of a nanny, alongside the discovery, friendships, and community of a thoughtfully designed early childhood classroom.

A place where babies could be held a little longer, children could move at their own pace, and families could feel genuinely connected to the people caring for their children.

That dream became Sagewood Childcare.

Today, Sagewood is the result of our years of experience, our friendship, and our belief that childhood deserves to be protected, celebrated, and enjoyed.

We're so grateful to share what we've created with the families who become part of our community.
